There is something about horses that is so pure and uncomplicated! My daughter (she’s thirteen) was having a private dressage lesson the other day, and the instructor was extremely enthusiasic in her tips, at one point the commands to adjust seat, hands, legs, and the position of the ponies head were rattling out like machine gun fire.

My daughter finally protested that it was “too much too fast”; and as she passed us her pony put her nose in the air and hightailed sideways down the long side of the ring – exactly mirroring my daughter feelings of – “I’ve had enough of this!”

Thankfully the instructor can read horses and kids – and the lesson calmed considerably!
